SHSC Coverage of Seattle’s 2025 Elections

SHSC 2025 Seattle Elections Coverage Update

July 1, 2025

SHSC’s Candidate Forum Committee is excited to announce that we have begun work on our human services-focused 2025 Primary Election Candidate Questionnaire and 2025 General Election Candidate Forum! These SHSC efforts offer an opportunity for human service providers to ask candidates in the upcoming Seattle elections how they intend to help build well-being in all our communities.

SHSC members submitted their questions for the candidates, and the Candidate Forum Committee compiled the submissions to be included in the primary questionnaire. Every candidate who filed for Seattle Mayor, Seattle City Attorney, and open Seattle City Council seats will be invited to respond. We will publish candidate responses on this page before primary ballots go out on July 18, 2025. The impetus of this survey is for all primary voters to learn more about the candidates before casting their votes. So, be sure to return to this page for candidate answers to the most pressing issues human service providers face.

Also, we’re thrilled to announce that the 2025 Human Services Candidate Forum is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, October 9, 2025, at El Centro de la Raza’s Centilia Cultural Center in Beacon Hill. This in-person forum will feature the final two candidates for Seattle Mayor, Seattle City Attorney, and three Seattle City Council seats.

So, please mark your calendars and help spread the word about SHSC’s Human Services Candidate Forum on October 9! This forum is open to the public and serves as a valuable resource for educating voters about each candidate’s positions on critical issues facing our communities. These issues include housing development, homelessness, food insecurity, access to quality healthcare, support for youth and seniors, and ending gender-based violence, among others. You can find photos and learn more about the 2023 forum here. Additionally, here is a link to KUOW's coverage of the 2021 forum.

Join the SHSC 2025 Election Team — Help Us Plan and Host Our Candidate Forum!

SHSC is preparing a human services-focused primary candidate questionnaire and will host a live candidate forum during this important election year. Candidates for Mayor, City Council, and City Attorney will be invited to complete the questionnaire.

The questionnaire will allow primary candidates to express their views on critical human services issues in Seattle and King County. Candidate responses will be posted to this page before primary voting, allowing residents to make informed decisions while casting their votes.

Following the primary elections, SHSC and co-sponsors will host the 2025 Human Services Candidate Forum. This in-person forum will bring together successful primary candidates for Mayor, City Attorney, and City Council to connect with voters and share their visions for enhancing human services, building an equitable city, and creating a just and thriving community in Seattle and King County.

For both the questionnaire and the forum, human service providers— including SHSC members and co-sponsors—will submit questions that the SHSC team will review and select for inclusion. The chosen questions will address a wide range of human service issues relevant to our region, all of which impact the ability of Seattle and King County residents to achieve well-being and reach their full potential.

We are actively seeking team members to help us plan these events, and we would love for you to join us! If you have colleagues who might be interested, please share this opportunity with them. We will begin meeting in early spring, typically once or twice a month via Zoom. While there is a fair amount of work to do, we always have fun in the process! In terms of time commitment, we work together to ensure that each team member contributes within their capacity—we like to share the responsibilities!

Please reach out to Jerry or Vedrana if you are interested in joining the 2025 SHSC Election Team!
